HAYDEN, Idaho — The Hayden City Council unanimously approved accepting a $250,000 grant from the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation to help fund improvements at the Honeysuckle Boat Launch during its July 14 meeting.
The grant will help pay for a project to improve the public boat launch on Hayden Lake. According to city documents, the work includes resurfacing the boat ramp, moving the southern dock farther south, widening the usable launch area, and adding an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-accessible walkway to improve access and connectivity for visitors.
The total project cost is estimated at $325,000. The state grant will provide $250,000, or about 77% of the project cost. The City of Hayden will provide the remaining $75,000 from the Honeysuckle Boat Launch Fund, which the City Council previously authorized as the required local match.
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation approved the funding on June 2. In a letter to the city dated June 3, the department notified Hayden that the project had been selected for funding and assigned Grant No. WW27-1-28-2. The project period runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
According to the grant agreement, the city will initially pay eligible project costs and then seek reimbursement from the state. The agreement also requires the city to comply with state grant rules, maintain project records, and complete the improvements within the project period unless an extension is approved.
The City Council voted unanimously to accept the grant and authorize Mayor Alan Davis to enter into the grant agreement with the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.
